Cranstoun Footcare ~ Biomechanics

A biomechanical assessment is appropriate for anyone experiencing pain in their back, hips, knees or feet.

The Human foot is a complicated structure consisting of 28 bones bound by ligaments and supported by muscles. Your feet are your foundation, if there is misalignment this influence your posture and makes you vulnerable to injury throughout your body. The assessment will evaluate the way your joints and muscles work together to identify misalignment.

The aim is to improve alignment, function and balance allowing the feet to function as better shock absorbers in daily activities and in sporting activities helps reduce symptoms of pain and risk of injury.

Management of condition may include:

  • Stretching and strengthening exercise programme
  • Taping techniques
  • Dry Needling ( Medical Podiatric Acupuncture)
  • Orthotic prescription (Off the shelf or custom made where appropriate)
  • Cushioning and offloading insole to accommodate foot shape
